Our Latest Trip to the Magnolia Market Silos, The Grounds & Parking

Who’s been to the Magnolia Market silos?  We just got back from a trip to Texas where we had a huge family reunion.  Jordann had never been to Magnolia so we took a day trip down to Waco.  My son-in-law (The Paparazzi) and I took so many pictures that I split them up into several articles.  So, if you’re interested, scroll down and you can see all the other fun things to do in Waco AND my secret for getting a GREAT parking spot at the silos.

Directions to Parking at Magnolia Market Silos

OK, here’s my secret for getting a great parking spot at Magnolia Market… First, you have to get there early.  ‘Cause even this “secret” parking lot gets full later in the day.  

When you approach Magnolia Market from I-35, you’ll get off on exit 335A, toward 4th/5th Streets and Downtown.  Go down 4th Street and turn on Webster.  You’ll start to see parking lots that charge $10.  But keep driving past the Market, turn right on 8th street, and you’ll see signs for the Magnolia Market parking lot.

This is what the parking lot looked like when we got there.  And the $10 parking lots we drove past were getting full!

And the best part of this parking lot is that it is actually attached to the grounds of Magnolia Market.  So we walked straight out the back of the parking lot into the back of the Market.

I decided this was the new vehicle I want to get for work.  Can you imagine how much stuff I could haul to the flea market in this?

I appreciated that Chip and Joanna left so much of the original gin intact.  Tex enjoyed explaining how this contraption worked.  See the curved part that looks like a swing in the upper right?  The trucks would drive their front wheels onto that and when it was hoisted up the grain/seed/cotton in the back would slide out into a hole and be moved into the silos through an auger.

But now it’s a great place to enjoy swinging or picnicking.  

To commemorate Jordann’s first trip to Magnolia we had to take her picture under the #milestomagnolia sign.  A little different from our first trip to the old Magnolia Market on Bosque… that #milestomagnolia sign was on a chalkboard!
