Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe

Last weekI told you about a recipe I found on Pinterest that didn’t turn out like we hoped.  Well, this week I have a winner for you – homemade ranch dressing recipe.

Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe. Easy, sugar-free | DuctTapeAndDenim.com

I usually love to cook but my menu drastically changes in the summer.  I don’t want to heat up the kitchen unless I really have to so we grill and/or eat salad almost every day.  Which means we also go through a lot of salad dressings.  Recently I’ve noticed how much unnecessary stuff is in those store bought salad dressings… high fructose corn syrup, MSG, artificial colors, and some other ingredients that I don’t even know what they do.  So I’m retraining my taste buds for healthier, homemade options.  This one is pretty good!

Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp dried thyme

I just whisked everything together in a bowl then transferred it into my jar.

These dried herbs do get a little expensive but you could save a lot of money if you can buy just a small amount from somewhere like Bulk Barn.  (Which I wish we had here in CA.) Or you could split a bottle with a friend.  I don’t think I’ll be using the thyme or dill weed very often so if you live close to me and want to borrow some to try this recipe, just let me know!

I realized when I started to take the photo below that the jar was sitting right in front of my kitchen chalkboard door.  I forgot to make Glenn’s lunch 3 times last week so I wrote myself a huge note!  But he doesn’t like ranch dressing…

My next step is to grow some dill and use that and the chives I already have growing in our little patio garden.  I’ll keep you updated.  You can follow my herb research on my Container Gardening Pinterest board.

If you missed the other salads I shared this summer, they’re listed below.  I do as little cooking during the summer as I can!

  • Salsa Ranch Dressing and Leftover Fajita Salad
  • Homemade Buffalo Ranch Dressing
  • Homemade Ranch Dressing
  • Frito Taco Salad

‘Til the next meal,

Thanks for the recipe. I make my own dressing all the time, but make vinaigrette style ones. Haven’t made my own ranch dressing yet, but would like to, for the same reasons you mention. Lots of unnecessary stuff in the store bought ones. Plus it makes for a lot of salad dressing bottles in the door of the fridge to keep buying lots of different types.

I have got to try this. I’ve noticed that home-made ranch tastes so much better than the plastic bottle stuff at the grocery store.

Do you like fresh salmon? I noticed you stated you won’t be using your dill very much and it is de-lish-ous on grilled salmon!

[…] I don’t like anything to go to waste from our fridge so sometimes I use a piece of leftover grilled chicken instead of the bacon.  Today I used one of my favorite time savers, Just Grilled Chicken Strips from Trader Joe’s  I also didn’t have blue cheese dressing, and that’s not one of our favorites either, so I used ranch dressing.  (See my homemade ranch dressing recipe here.)
