How to Make a Valentine Pillow in 15 Minutes

Welcome to this month’s edition of 15-Minute Crafts!  I’ll be sharing my idea for a Valentine pillow to make in 15 minutes.  Scroll down to find a link to more quick crafts you can make for Valentine’s Day.

Disclosure:  I’m on the Canvas Corp Brands design team this year so the pillowcase is one of the supplies that they’ve provided for me.  But the opinions and project ideas are my own.

For the insert, I just used an old throw pillow that came with a comforter set we bought several years ago.  But I’ve also included a source for new pillow inserts in the supply list below.

DIY Valentine Pillow - BEFORE

Valentine Pillow Supplies

  • Canvas Corp square burlap pillowcase, 12″ x 12″
  • 12″ x 12″ pillow form
  • red yarn – I used Red Heart but use whatever shade of red you have.
  • crochet hook, size H
  • glue gun – This is my favorite new glue gun.  Love the detailer!
  • glue sticks
  • paper, pencil, & scissors if you want to make a pattern

DIY Valentine Pillow, supplies needed

Step One:  Spread out the pillowcase and decide what shape heart you want.  You can cut a heart out of paper to use as a pattern.

Step Two:  Crochet a simple chain long enough to go completely around the heart shape.Crocheted Red Heart Canvas Corp Brands Valentine pillow ~ 15 minute craft for Valentine's Day

Step Three:  Lay the crochet chain on the pillowcase in the heart shape and run a tiny bead of hot glue right under it, pressing down with your fingers as you go.

My Completed DIY Heart Pillow

Done!  Hubby loves the size of this pillow.  It’s great for supporting your lower back when you’re relaxing on the couch.

At first, I thought I might sew on the heart but I wanted something quick plus the hot glue will peel off so I can decorate the same pillow for the next holiday or season!

I love the two pillows behind it, too.  You won’t believe the price of the compass pillow!  $2.90 last time I looked!  The world map pillow was only $5.60.  Not sure how long these sales will last so get ’em quick!
