Food Valentine's Day

Easy Valentines Day Biscuits to Make for Your Family

Jordi’s been leaving hints for the last two weeks that she wanted biscuits.  She even tore a recipe out of Better Homes & Gardens and stuck it on the fridge.  So I got up before her this morning and made heart-shaped Valentine’s Day biscuits for her.Valentines Day biscuit recipe | DuctTapeAndDenim.com

Easy Valentines Day Biscuit Recipe

  • 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1 t salt
  • 3/4 t cream of tartar
  • 3/4 c butter
  • 1 c milk
  1. Preheat oven to 450.
  2. Combine all dry ingredients. Cut in butter with a pastry blender. Add milk and stir until just combined.
  3. Turn dough out onto the counter. Knead just a few times, until it all sticks together well. Roll out to about 1/2″ thick. Cut out.
  4. Place about 1″ apart on a baking stone. Bake for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.
We had her other favorite breakfast food, too — sausage.  I should have made them heart-shaped too so they’d fit better on the biscuits.  But they were still good.  Then I had one with honey.   Mmmmmmmmmm….. buttermilk biscuits smell good cooking!  I rolled up the scraps and cut them into squares so I didn’t waste any.
They’re not as pretty, but they’ll still taste yummy.  I may freeze some so Jo can pull them out & microwave them before school.  Seems like I read somewhere online about a mom that made sausage biscuits on the weekend and put them in the freezer.  I may try that.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

What a great mom you are! Those look delicious! My dad always made the kind that were all lumpy and bumpy, not pretty, but so yummy!
