This thrift store makeover was originally published several years ago but still a great example of a chalk paint jewelry cabinet makeover.
Our shop isn’t selling CeCe Caldwell paints anymore so this is probably one of the last projects you’ll see me use it for. I’m just using up the rest of my supply ’cause you know I hate to waste anything! I think I paid $5.99 for this old jewelry cabinet at Goodwill. I was so excited to get started that I forgot to take a before photo. Will I ever learn? But here’s what it looked like after I took out the old glass and gave it one coat of paint.

Paint Jewelry Cabinet
Here’s a close up after one coat on the side and two coats on the top. The wood started off very dark so it took a little more than usual to cover it up.
Distress
After two full light coats and a little touch up on some areas I let it dry completely then wet distressed the edges with a damp rag. It doesn’t take much to distress this paint… one of my favorite things about it.
Seal
Then I covered it with one coat of the Polycrylic and let that dry before I stapled in the decorative metal. This is an important step when using chalk paint!
I loved how the pink and gray looked together and the inside was clean so I just left it the way it was. This was one of the easiest jewelry box makeovers I’ve done in a while!
