DIY Wire Easter Bunny Ears for Unique Easter Eggs

Today I’m just sharing a simple Easter craft I made last year.  Here’s a cute way to decorate your eggs without making a mess with dye, markers, or glue.  I put wire Easter bunny ears on my Easter eggs!

Wire Easter Bunny Ears for Eggs

  • speckled Easter eggs – I used these eggs.
  • dark annealed wire, 22g
  • wire cutters
  • pliers

First, a warning.  I didn’t measure anything.  This is one of those crafts that I just fiddled around with until it looked right.  Sorry for those of you who like exact measurements.

I started by wrapping the wire around the egg a few times, then cutting it with my wire cutters.  HINT:  Don’t use your jewelry wire cutters for this project!  This annealed wire is much harder and will damage your cutters.

I wrapped one end of the wire around the loops to hold the wire in place.

Then I cut 2 shorter pieces of wire.  I twisted one end around the wire loops in front and formed an ear shape.  You can make these as tall or as fat as you want.  Then I twisted the other end around the loops right next to the first connection.

Again, I didn’t measure so I had extra wire.  I just cut it off and bent down the ends with my pliers.

Repeat for the second ear.

I think it has something to do with how they heat the wire to make it stronger. It’s a dark wire that I use for crafting. I think there’s a link for it in the post…
