21 Painted Frames Makeovers
Chicken Wire Frames
This was one of the first thrift store makeovers I did on the blog and it’s still one of the most popular. And, best of all, it’s also really easy.
Blue, Gray, and White Painted Frame Makeovers
When you find thrift store frames with a lot of detail, this is a great paint technique to try.
White & Gray Dry Brushed Frames
This is a similar painting technique but with the lighter color as the base.
Thrift Store Frame Jewelry Organizers
This project came about when I was looking for something other than chicken wire to fill them with. And I ended up with some great crackle finishes!
Painted Shadow Box Frames
These two shadow box frames were some of the most unique that I’ve found at thrift stores. I love how they turned out.
Frames Aged with Antiquing Dust
These are my current favorite frames! I loved using the antiquing dust.
Turquoise and Red Frames
This was one of those experimental painting techniques that I tried.
How to Frame a Bathroom Mirror
OK, so this one isn’t a thrift store makeover. We created this gorgeous frame from scratch! And you won’t believe how easy it is.
Mini Valentine Frames
These tiny frames are plastic. I filled these with Valentine decorations but you could make them for any holiday.
Vintage Frame Advent Calendar
I didn’t have to paint this amazing vintage frame. It was a perfectly aged gold when I found it. I turned it into an Advent calendar last year. A great project because it’s not permanent. This blog post also have a printable for the verses to put into the tiny envelopes.
DIY Stenciled Frame
This wasn’t my project but I love the idea of stenciling frames. You may see my version on the blog soon.

Went to my first 4 yard sales of 2021 this Saturday; one lady had BRAND NEW frames, many still with their cardboard corners still on them for 50 cents to $1. I liked the idea of $15 (ugly) pictures with nice mats for .75! Now I need to find pictures for them!
