Start by painting the wood canvas with the black paint.  Prop up on something to keep the bottom edge from sticking.

When the black paint is completely dry, cover the back of the larger stencil with spray adhesive, wait five minutes, and apply it to the black canvas.

Apply the white paint lightly with the sponge brush.  Repeat with the smaller stencil on the sides of the wood canvas.

Print “enjoy the journey”, or whatever you’d like your sign to say, on your computer.  Cut apart and arrange on the second canvas.  Use washi tape to hold words and tracing paper.  Trace around the letters and fill in with 2-3 coats of white paint.

Cut fabric in triangles to fit over stenciled pennant shapes.  Attach jute and fabric with hot glue.

I hung mine on a vintage screen that I bought from Barbara at Mes Amis last fall.
