Supplies for Denim Bracelets

  • old blue jeans, cut into strips. The ones shown in the photo & videos are about 3/4″ wide.
  • rhinestone buttons or embellishments — THESE are my favorites.
  • 2 ribbon crimps
  • 1 lobster clasp
  • 2 — 4-6mm jump rings
  • 4-5 — 8-12mm twisted or etched open jump rings OR 2″ chain with large links  (curb chain is a good choice)
  • 2 pair pliers

How to Make Denim Bracelets

One: Cut Denim

Cut the denim blue jeans into strips the width of your ribbon crimps. The ones I made today are about 3/4″ wide. Then cut the strips into 6″ lengths.

Two: Add Ribbon Crimps

Stick one end of the denim strip in the ribbon crimp and gently squeeze with the jewelry pliers. Make sure you watch the video on this one… it’s a little tricky at first, but not really too hard.

Three: Add Closures

Add the lobster clasp to one end and the large jump rings to the other. I like to also add about a 2″ piece of chain. That makes it easier to put on by myself and it’s adjustable… just in case I want to sell it.

Four: Decorate

Here’s the fun part! Let your imagination go wild. I love mixing shiny rhinestones with the distressed denim look but I’ve also used old clip-on earrings, other jewelry findings, vintage buttons or pins, embroidery thread, charms, tags, and more.
