Today’s project was first published on my blog TEN years ago on November 25, 2007! (Let me apologize in advance for the small and sometimes blurry photos. I’ve learned a LOT about photography in the last ten years!) At that time I was really into the paper bag album idea and created several of them with all my vintage Christmas ephemera and leftover supplies. If you’ve got a lot of craft supplies left from other projects these would be a good way to use them up!

Christmas Paper Bag Album
Several have asked where I got the illustrations I used in this album. They came from a book of Christmas carols published in the 1960s. I think I remember seeing it when I was little… we may even still have it somewhere, probably the piano bench of my dad’s house. I found this one at a thrift store. Some of the pages were torn and there was a lot of coloring in it but I was still able to use quite a few of the illustrations and songs. I try to only cut up vintage books that are falling apart or damaged in some way.
I did a few machine stitches in the paper bag album, too.
I even used parts of an old Shiny Brite Christmas ornament box. The box was falling apart but I couldn’t bear to part with these amazing graphics!
I made pockets throughout the book and added some tags.
This was so long ago I don’t even remember whose Christmas present this was!

Hi Ann! That Christmas album is adorable! It makes me want to drag out all my scrapbooking stuff. 🙂 Like you, I’m up to my eyeballs in gift making. :)You left me a comment about looking for the candy corn treat bag and tea cup potholder patterns. I made them up but would be happy to share how I did them if you’d like to drop me a line. My email should be attached.Hugs
