Every house needs a home sweet home sign! I’ve had this piece of wood for several years now. It’s actually the top of a wine crate that I bought at a garage sale for $1.00. I use the crate for a display at my vintage markets. But I held on to the lid… I knew eventually I’d find something to use it for.

How to Make a Home Sweet Home Sign
- old wood
- Home Sweet Home stencil – This one is available in multiple sizes to fit whatever board you have!
- black paint
- stencil brush – Get a good one! As you can see in the video, I still use one that I got over 20 years ago!

Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the supplies I used or the board before I stenciled it. But you can watch the video below and see what it looked like and how I used the stencil.
My original thought was to find some old signs at the thrift store, paint over them, and then stencil the home sweet home on them. I may still do that, too.

In case you didn’t know… I’m from Texas and still consider it home. And we raised cotton when I was growing up, too. I never picked cotton, though. Just rode on top of the cotton trailer on the way to the gin. Something today’s kids will never get to experience!
