This was the ugly, boring cabinet in our powder room, aka “world’s tiniest bathroom”! It looked even more blah after painting the walls a light gray (you’ll see details of that later). I showed you last week how I painted the sink. LOVE how it turned out btw! But today I’ll show you how to paint a bathroom cabinet… the easy way!

How to Paint Bathroom Cabinets
- Americana Decor Satin Enamel Paint, Charcoal Grey
- 4″ trim roller or mini roller
- 1″ trim paint brush
- knee pads (not necessary but a HUGE help to me!)
The first step in any painting job is cleaning… really well. Use a degreaser if you need to. Usually you would then sand the cabinets lightly just to rough them up a bit so the new paint will adhere well and then apply a coat of primer.
The Americana Decor Satin Enamel Paint does not need sanding or a primer before painting. But if you use a different paint, make sure you sand and prime! Especially if you’re going from a darker color to a lighter color.
Here’s how my cabinets looked during the first coat.
Apply at least two coats. I used three on these cabinets.
This paint dries to a really durable finish. No need to apply varnish. Again, if you use a different paint check the instructions.
Here’s another look at how tiny this bathroom is!
Ta da!
I thought about adding some cute crystal knobs but the bathroom is so small that the knobs would hit the walls when the cabinet doors were opened. So I skipped the cuteness and went for simple instead.
I recently used this paint (in navy) on a men’s valet makeover from the thrift store and LOVED it. This was the biggest project I’ve ever used it on.

I want to make sure that I get the right cabinets. It makes sense that getting basic simple ones could be nice! That way I could paint them however I want to.
