Today’s makeover is another unknown to me item! I’ve never found anything quite like this before and I’m not sure what to call it. But I’m going to display some fall cupcakes on it so I’m calling it a 3 tier cupcake stand! Have you ever seen anything like this? It’s a little different. Every layer is a different shape and they’re not equally spaced.

Instructions for Painting Thrifted Wood Pieces
I love painting with Chalky Finish Paint! No prep at all. I just wiped off the dust, removed the price tag, and started painting.
One coat covered pretty well but I did go back and touch up a few places. Here’s what it looked like after it dried. The wood is peeking through in a few spots but I knew I was going to distress it so I didn’t mind.
I took some 100-grit sandpaper and lightly sanded the edges to remove a little paint. Then I went over the whole piece with 220 grit.
After wiping off the dust, I painted on a thin coat of Americana Decor Light Satin Varnish. Even though it’s clear, it’s pretty easy to see where it had been applied. Can you see the spot I missed in the photo below?
I decided to take it to Treasure Island Flea to display some jewelry.
Then I used it to display some of my favorite fall candies for some friends who came over to visit.

I love the jewelry displayed on this piece; it would also be great for a collection of small knick knacks–my Boyd’s “Yesterday’s Child” little girls comes to mind! The candies look great; what a lovely piece when entertaining!

Great ideas!

Nice versatile piece. That black is a great contrast for the orange of Halloween and for metallics!

It reminds me of the “tea cakes” stand served at “tea” at my local tea shop. It is brought to the table with little cakes on it and served with a pot of tea.

What can you use on wood that is good safe? I read somewhere that a special kind of charcoal and then bees wax???

The wax I use says food safe on it. Just check your labels. I’m not sure about charcoal.
