Just a few weeks ago I shared photos from our thrifting trip to Berkeley and told you I had LOTS more pictures from Urban Ore. Today I decided to share them all with you. Well, actually, this isn’t even all of them. There’s SO much to see there I took tons of pictures. These are just the ones that turned out the best. And once you see them, you’ll know why this is my favorite thrift store in Berkeley!

Urban Ore Thrift Store
Urban Ore’s motto is “To End the Age of Waste”. This is a fun store! You never know what you’ll find. They’re open Monday through Saturday 8:30 to 7:00, Sunday 10:00 to 7:00. There’s also a lot of variety!
It’s a huge, barn-like structure but very organized. There were very well defined sections with smalls displayed on shelves or peg boards. Larger pieces and furniture was just lined up in open areas.
Here’s the table section.
Urban Ore has just a few chairs, too.
Have you ever seen so many chairs in one place? Well, I have… in a vintage/thrift/antique store in Salt Lake City. I can’t remember the name of it. I know I took a picture of it but it’ll probably take me a while to find it.
I love looking at old escutcheons. These were organized really well. Made me want to replace all the doorknobs in my house!
This is also where I found the spice rack that I’d been searching for for so long. You’ll see that makeover in a few weeks.
There was much more outside. We called this the “potty graveyard”.
Urban Ore is much more than just building materials. They also have furniture, cabinets, housewares, clothing, sports equipment, books, art, electronics, tools, hardware, lighting, and more, including some pretty unique and eclectic stuff. Pure “Berkeley”!

There is a wonderful place in Portland, OR called Hippo Hardware and trading co. Huge building, and when I was last there years ago (I moved) they had a different item department in every room. The main floor had the entire ceiling covered with chandeliers. It’s all neat and organized. I can’t praise them enough. And there’s an old town on I-5 in south WA called Kalama that has more antique stores than I have ever seen in a smaller city. I need to find some architectural salvage pieces. First a 2′-3′ kitchen sink with the high back from like the 20’s or earlier.

Sounds like great places! I don’t know when I’ll be in that area of the country again though. 🙁
