One of my favorite things, when we go back to visit Texas, is our girls’ shopping day! We’ve gone to Waxahachie, Hillsboro, Glen Rose, and a few other places around and between.
On our last trip it was just me, my sister, and my oldest daughter so we decided to go to Glen Rose again. By the time we got there it was already lunch time (we were a little slow getting moving that morning… it was COLD!) so we stopped first for lunch at a cute place I had seen on Facebook — Storiebook Cafe.
Storiebook Cafe combines all my favorite things: books, vintage typewriters, antiques, sandwiches, and soups. The photos in the collage above where taken in the side room. There was so much in the children’s area that I couldn’t even take pictures of all of it. Including a box full of dress up clothes!
We all had a soup/sandwich combo and chose the chicken and dumplings for our soup. It was amazing!!! I had a turkey avocado on a spinach wrap.
As you can tell, the other girls enjoyed their lunches, too. And then this happened…
Lauren wanted to reenact a scene from Beauty and the Beast, her favorite movie as a toddler! One whole wall of the main room in the cafe is wall-to-wall bookshelves with a rolling ladder. Took our breath away! (Pardon the Rubbermaid tote on the floor. They were taking down Christmas decorations that day.)
These two photos were in the back room. The colorful shelves reminded me of my sister’s house. And I loved the vintage photo collaged table for beverage service. (Of course, since there’s NO color in that it would be my favorite.)
You can see our previous trip to Glen Rose here, when we packed five of us into a little care in the 110 degree heat! And here you’ll find a digital scrapbook page I did from our very first girls’ shopping day in Waxahachie.
