Are you ready for the Big Game? You might be… but is your small bathroom ready? #HalftimeBathroomBreak Even though we live in a small house (1200 sq. ft.) that has never stopped us from having friends over to watch football. Lots of planning goes into those football parties and usually we’re thinking about what to eat or if we’ll have enough places for everyone to sit. Since I recently learned that 50% of the people hosting a football party don’t spend any time getting their bathroom ready and over 60% say they’ve forgotten important bathroom supplies when planning their party, today I’ll share some small bathroom ideas for you to get ready for your football party.
Charmin and Febreze also want you to be prepared so they sponsored today’s post full of ideas for game day.
I’ll also be using this crate that I found at Treasure Island Flea last year.
Small Bathroom Ideas for Hosting Football Parties
Go UP With Storage Space
I’ve seen some super cute baskets but my bathroom has NO extra floor space. So I went up. I attached the vintage crate to the wall above the toilet. Now if I get engrossed in the game, my guests can easily find extra toilet paper. I added a little strip of burlap just to add some interest. It’s attached in the back with some washi tape so it comes off easily.
Photos
I like to add a personal touch so I included a photo of my grandfather’s high school football team. He’s #69… with a tiny X marked on him.
Photos are a great was to add interest to a small space. They don’t take up any valuable floor or counter space. But please use copies of old family photos. Photos and water don’t mix!
A Little Fun
Leave something fun or humorous out for your guests to see when they visit the bathroom. We’ve always talked about painting a whole bathroom wall in chalkboard paint but for this party I just pulled out an old clip board that had been painted with chalkboard paint. Bikeman took one look at my football vignette and asked where I got that play. Ha! Yes, I do know how many players are on a team. I just ran out of space. I may leave some chalk in the bathroom so guests can draw up their own plays!
Other fun ideas: joke books, funny bathroom art, rubber ducky collection, or a gallery wall.
Smell Control
Did you know that more toilets are flushed during halftime of the Super Bowl than at any other time during the year? That’s true at our house, too. So I tucked a bottle of Febreze on my vintage crate shelf and added a new Febreze SmallSpaces on the back of the toilet. The new Febreze has OdorClearTM technology, a proprietary technology from Febreze that seeks out and cleans away odor molecules instead of just masking them, stopping them from lingering and traveling.
More small bathroom ideas and ideas for hosting a football party in a small house:
- Move all your personal bathroom supplies off the bathroom counter.
- Make sure you also have a trash can in plain sight and some extra liners. Check it a couple of time during the game and take it out if needed.
- Add a couple of extra hand towels in the bathroom.
- Rearrange seating in the TV area, pulling in dining chairs, office chairs, and pillows for extra seating.
Remember, when you make a shopping list for your football party, don’t forget the bathroom supplies. Add Charmin Ultra Strong and Febreze to your list!
