Misc Thrift Store Makeovers

Thrift Store Makeover | Rooster Stenciled Cutting Board

Remember this little cutting board from my thrift store haul back in March?  I told you I had a plan for it — it’s now a stenciled cutting board!

There are affiliate links on this page.  You won’t pay any extra for using these links but I will receive a small percentage of what you spend which helps support my little blog and I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!  Thanks!

Here are the supplies I used:

  • Show-Offs farm animals stencil
  • Americana Decor Chalky Finish in carbon (DecoArts provided this sample for me to use.)
  • sponge brush
  • Elmer’s Craftbond spray glue
  • an old cutting board

I had bought this stencil a few months before just because I liked all the farm animals.  The rooster was especially speaking to me.

And it fit perfectly on the cutting board.

I lightly sprayed the back of the stencil with Elmer’s Craftbond, waiting about five minutes before pressing it down on the cutting board.

Then I put a tiny bit of paint on the sponge brush and dabbed it on.  The stencil pulled off easily.  And the completed rooster made a trip down to Texas to stay with the other “Sister Chick”!  Maybe I can get her to share a picture of all the chickens in her kitchen!

‘Til the next project,

I love this! What a great use of stencils. I like the farmhouse style and the rooster in your kitchen is also a sign of good luck 🙂
I hope you will stop by Monday and share this for the Something to Talk About link party!

Another cute makeover, but that cutting board looked practically new, so it was a nice score! I like the stencil too. I’m looking for makeover ideas for cutting boards.

I have had one successful stenciling project on a plant stool; used my AC Moore c/o today for another stencil; want to try it on dish towels. Now that I have the idea of “Pouncing” down, maybe I won’t get the bleed under???? Roosters are so IN right now; it will be a hit.
