I love reading other blogs to see what people are finding and buying. So I thought I’d share my finds from antique shows, vintage flea markets, and garage sales for this week. I even found a great piece on the side of the road for free!
First we have a find from Jordy & Jonny up in Chico. They know what I like! All this was found at a garage sale. I think she said they paid $12 for all of it?
You may not be able to see but those little drawers are FULL of keys and more locks! One of the handles is broken off but I’m already thinking that I’ll paint the box and replace all the handles with some cute little sparkly vintage pieces.
The macrame hangers bring back a lot of memories. I think my grandmother went through a macrame phase. I seem to remember a lot of plants hanging around in those. And someone taught me… it was so long ago I can’t remember if it was her or my mom. They were both very creative women.
Next are some individual size salt and pepper shakers that I found at Paris Flea Market. I really prefer the fancier ones but I’ll bling these up with some vintage rhinestones to make my “Salt of the Earth” necklaces. They’ve been very popular lately so I’m trying to keep up with the demand. lol… when you see my shelf below it will look like I’m keeping up with the demand.
I didn’t buy all these just this week. I found a lot in the antique store in Paradise, from our last Chico trip. Then I’ve been picking up a pair here and there when I go to markets and thrift stores.
I’ll have another story to tell you about all those spice bottles on the lower shelf with the beads in them. That’ll be another day, though.
Next for what is probably my FAVORITE find of the week. I’ve been stamping metal for a while now and trying to justify the cost of an alphabet set with large letters. The set I wanted was close to $100.
Last Sunday was the Shadelands Ranch Antique Show. It’s much smaller than it used to be and we almost didn’t go because of that… and the heat.
But I was glad we did! Jordy was walking ahead of us and found this amazing set. She came back to get me and I was so excited when I saw the $20 price tag on the large (and only complete) set. Then she told me it was $20 for ALL the stamps. Even better. So now I can stamp anything with the large set and only certain words with the smaller ones. No problem… I’ll work around that for $20!
Here are my first two projects with the new stamps. You should be seeing these at my next few sales – Room With a Past in Walnut Creek, CA; Treasure Island Flea in San Francisco; and Paris Flea Market in Livermore, CA.
I’ll have them in my Etsy shop, too, as soon as I can recover from all the fun we had while all the kids were here!
And stay tuned for photos of the free things I find on the side of the road, too!
