Room With A Past

I Found It!!!

Find #1:  After looking at every magazine rack in every store that I’ve been in the last few weeks I finally found the summer issue of Flea Market Style.  And you’ll never guess where… at a grocery store that I walk by every day.  🙂  I’ve been waiting for this one because I knew that our shop, Room With a Past, was going to be mentioned.  Looks, we’re #6 in the “Best Vintage Sales From Coast to Coast.”  And Mandi even has a quote!!!  It’s filled with some great projects.

Find #2:  I found an old tennis racquet press a few weeks ago at a thrift store.  These were used to keep the old wooden racquets from warping.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it but following my MO, I bought it and sat it on my desk, waiting for inspiration to hit.  Meanwhile, as my pile of bracelets grew, I knew I wanted to put together a new display for next month’s sale.  Then I put two and two together… why not make a vintage “tennis bracelet” display?  Get it?  (I’m probably the only one laughing at my own joke…)

My dh & I have this joke about how whenever either of us comes up with a great idea we see it already done somewhere.  So guess what I saw on Mamie Jane’s blog just a few days ago… before I had seen Flea Market Style?!?  There’s a project with a vintage tennis racquet press in the mag!  They made little snack serving trays.  Jane made a plate & cup hanger from it.  Make sure you go look at her blog and see how fun it it!

My jewelry display was really easy.  Here’s my tutorial:  1) drill tiny holes in the press, 2) screw in cup hooks, 3) hang your bracelets on it.  I used one of my tiny drill bits with my Dremel.  I think the cup hooks are 1/4″.  And it can sit or hang.

This will be at Room With a Past’s March 15-18 sale — displaying bracelets and will also be for sale.

Next… a vintage tennis racquet!
