Misc Thrift Store Makeovers Turquoise Tuesday

Turquoise Tuesday | Homemade Chalk Paint Washi Tape Holder

Heart shaped wooden peg hanger before I painted it with my homemade chalk paint | DuctTapeAndDenim.com

One day I was out shopping, just looking for wood things to practice my homemade chalk paint on.  I ran across this wooden heart-shaped peg hanger.  It was really cheap… maybe 50c?  I figured I couldn’t go wrong for that amount so I bought it even though I wasn’t sure what I’d do with it.

Heart shaped wooden peg hanger painted with my homemade chalk paint | DuctTapeAndDenim.comI picked turquoise paint, of course.  I think this color is Turquoise Bay from Ace Hardware.  I used my homemade chalk paint recipe and gave it two quick coats of paint.  After it was dry I distressed it a little and gave it one coat of Minwax Polycrylic.

Now I have a place to keep my washi tape so it doesn’t roll away while I’m using it.  Next I just needs to find a way to sort and store a LOT of washi tape.  If you have any ideas leave me a message here or on my Facebook page.  Or tag me in a Pinterest photo so I can add it to my Washi Tape Board… that would be even better!

Sadie Seasongoods has a great post where she converted a simple rife rack (got mine for $3 but haven’t done it yet) with dowels to hold scraps of cloth. I am gonna thread spools of ribbon on mine. She built up the lower end of the rack so the dowels hang straight. I also use an old CD case rack for my 1/8 and 1/4″ rolls of ribbon. GW almost always has some! I am a ribbon addict! SHH, don’t tell anyone!
