What to Wear to Flea Markets

Frayed Hem Jeans | What to Wear to Flea Markets #fiftyandfab

Recently, I’ve been seeing frayed hem jeans everywhere I look.   They’re perfect for a flea market — casual and comfortable.  Match them with your Converse and a t-shirt, add a hat, and you’re ready to shop!

I’m excited today to be joining up with some NEW blogging friends and we all have something very special in common… OUR AGE!  Wanna guess it?  Well, you don’t have to ’cause we’re proud of it and glad to share with you.  I’m now officially a part of the Fifty and Fabulous Blog Hop!

Do you think women over 50 should follow fashion trends?

My friend and I thought so.  We shared Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook photos back and forth for a while and finally decided that we should make a pair of these frayed hem jeans.  Our adult daughters didn’t share our opinions and might have made a few comments sharing their views on our Facebook posts.  Of course, that just made us want to make them more.

So, a few weeks ago we got together and I made this pair myself!

I’m still working on a tutorial for these.  Until it’s ready take a look at these I found online and let me know in the comments which pair you’d be most likely to wear.

Frayed Hem Jeans

I’ve seen these called both “raw hem jeans” or “frayed hem jeans”.  Either way you can find them in just about any length or leg width.  We even made some from a pair of thrift store jeans.  One of my favorite old pair of jeans has been around so long they look like this naturally!

Now take a look at all the other Fifty and Fabulous bloggers in our group!  Please visit them and let them know Ann sent you!

Don’t forget to let me know which pair YOU would wear!

Ok, I am certainly showing my age but I use to fray my jeans when I was a teenager. The examples you showed are cute. I may need to start fraying again!

I’m really short and have to cut off every pair of pants and jeans I buy. I cut one pair too short recently and decided to let out that hem and fray ’em. I feel a little weird wearing them, but I think that’s because, looking at those pictures, they might be a tad too long now for frayed jeans. But, wear them, I will! And I haven’t noticed any strange looks from people. LOL Actually wore them yesterday when I went to pick up my granddaughter from day care to take her to dance. Wore a pretty hip looking t-shirt, too. Couldn’t decide if I was an old lady trying to look young, or just me. Decided – or convinced myself – it was Just Me. 😀

It’s funny how, when I’m shopping, I’ll see clothes that I think are too old for me. I’m not talking about Alfred Dunner, either. Just mature, classic clothes. I’ll think it looks like someone in their 50’s. I’m almost 62. Ha!

I LOVE frayed hems, on cutoffs and jeans! It’s my age telling on me for sure.

This took me down memory lane. I used to fray all my jeans and especially my jean cut-offs. Fashion trends always come full circle, Maybe I’ll get brave on an especially challenging day and fray the heck out of a pair of jeans!

I love the look and think it looks good at any age. I remember doing this with my jeans “cut -offs” when I was in high school.

What a cute post & all the jeans are cute. I need to shed some pounds before I stuff myself into a pair of any jeans, but if they looked good on me, I would wear any of them! They are very cute! I love how jeans are so versatile. You can do practically anything to them & pair anything with them.

I heart blue jeans of all kinds. It’s funny how our kids can’t decide if they want us to be hip or not, lol. They can back to us on that. Meanwhile, wearing fringed jeans it is. Pinned and shared. Love your post!

I love your black frayed jeans! Some of the other ones are a little too much but I would wear yours. Perfect for a flea market or a day of thrifting. I recently bought myself a pair of boyfriend jeans that have frayed holes all over the legs. They are loose and comfortable and I love them. I am way over 50…how do I join this fabulous club?!

I’m fifty and love fashion… Follow it, even if I don’t always agree. There’s little that we can’t also pull off, as long as we use common sense. Frayed looks are fun and funky.
