Bling for Your Books | Vintage Paper & Rhinestone Bookmarks

Bling for Your Books | Bookmarks from vintage black cardboard and rhinestones buttons. | DuctTapeAndDenim.comI was a little surprised to find the July/August issue of Somerset Life in JoAnn’s already this morning.  Magazines were on sale this week so I bought it.  It was a rainy day here so both daughters & I were laying on my bed this afternoon reading magazines when Jordy asked, “Mom, didn’t you make something that looked exactly like this?”  I took a look at the Bling for Your Books headline and squealed, “Those ARE mine!”

I love surprises like that.   I just wish I had known before I bought it.  If I do get a copy in the mail I may have a giveaway on my blog!

These were super simple to make.

I used cardboard out of some of the vintage board games I collect.  Snippets of text from old books were glued on with a glue stick.  (I found some books at a recent library sale that were falling apart but had GREAT text and illustrations.)  Then on one end I punched a hole, stuck a vintage rhinestone button through, and twisted a tiny piece of wire through the back.  (In case I wanted to reuse these buttons later.  They can be easily removed.)

‘Til the next project!
