Today is another one of my earliest jewelry box makeovers. I think at the time I first posted this I only had about 100 followers. I’ve grown a lot since then so I thought I’d share it with the rest of you. The pictures aren’t so great but I loved how the detail on this turquoise jewelry cabinet turned out.
Turquoise Jewelry Cabinet
I think it’s been a year and a half now that turquoise has been my favorite color! (I did have a little fling with Memphis Blue during that time.) If you look back on my blog you can see all the things I’ve painted turquoise in the last 18 months.
I really liked the way the detail came out on this jewelry cabinet when I distressed.
The color is Turquoise Bay from Ace Hardware. I added my secret ingredient to make it “homemade chalk paint”.
I gave it two coats, distressed with some sandpaper, then a coat of Minwax polyurethane. Easy peasy! Oh, I did also replace the glass in the doors with wire. I used my trusty staple gun for that.
Luckily this one was clean inside but recently I redid a jewelry cabinet that was NOT. You can read this post to see how I covered up the stains inside.
