It’s been too long since my last tutorial! I’ve really missed writing them so I’m excited about getting back into it. Especially since I’ve added a new aspect … video! I now have my own YouTube channel where I’ll be adding more tutorials, videos of my jewelry and vintage flea markets, and (eventually) Facebook party videos. So enjoy my first — tape measure bracelet tutorial.

I’m starting with a tape measure bracelet tutorial. This is a project I did a few years ago for GreenCraft Magazine. Above you can see all the ribbon crimps I keep on hand to match all my different tape measures. I get most of these on Etsy. Just do a search for “ribbon crimps”. Or here’s a link to a package of assorted sizes of ribbon crimps from Twilight’s Fancy on Amazon. Some in the photo came from them, too.
You’ll also need:
- 6″ vintage tape measure
- 2 ribbon crimps
- 1 lobster clasp
- 2 — 4-6mm jump rings
- 4-5 — 8-12mm twisted or etched jump rings OR 2″ chain with large links
- 2 pair pliers
If you can’t find any vintage tape measures that you want to cut you can get this Ruler Ribbon by Tim Holtz Idea-ology on Amazon.

Is it possible to get typed instructions for the measuring tape bracelet? I have carpal tunnel in both hands. My fingers go numb after a short time when doing any kind of crafting. I tried with your video for the bracelet but I have to play it back constantly and just can’t finish it. A written tutorial would be wonderful. You can’t Imagin how long it took me to type this post I made so many mistakes. LOL Thank you in advance for your interest.
