Welcome back to “Throwback Thursdays”. Today we’re sharing a vintage plastic mirror I bought and painted back in 2014. Even at that time I’d had it for so long I couldn’t even remember where I bought it. I’m pretty sure I found it at Goodwill and just paid $1.00. It wasn’t in good shape when I got it. This ‘before’ picture is actually after I cleaned it.

Vintage Plastic Mirror Makeover
At the time our shop was selling CeCe Caldwell’s natural chalk and clay paint so I picked Vintage White and Memphis Blue to use on this makeover.
The back of the plastic mirror was cardboard and had been wet at one time which made it very wavy and uneven. Easy solution: I just removed it. I figured that no one would look at the back anyway.
Then I just wiped off the dust and cobwebs and painted a couple of coats of paint on it.
After that it still looked a little plain so I distressed it with a wet rag. It ended up that my rag had a little blue paint on it after distressing one of the blue tables that I had done. A little of the blue paint rubbed off onto the white area but I liked how it looked so I kept rubbing it in. You can see the detail in the close up below.
Then I just rubbed a little of the clear wax over it all and let it dry. Easy, peasy!

That blue and white is such a pretty combo. Great way to upcycle something to eliminate the plastic look!
