1 cup butter flavored Crisco
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1/2 t salt
2 cups flour
1/2 cup jam
1/2 cup nuts
Preheat oven to 375. Cream Crisco, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt. Stir in flour. Chill at least 30 minutes. Roll 1 t of dough into a ball. Place on baking sheet about 2″ apart and press thumb into the center of each. Fill with a small amount of jam. Bake 8-10 minutes. You can make them fancy like the photo above or plain like below. I like using all the homemade jams that people give us this time of year for this recipe.

And here are some pictures I ran across while looking for photos of cookies. I think Lauren was in 7th grade when I let her & a bunch of her friends come over to make cookies.

What was I thinking letting 13 year old girls use a cookie press? Afterwards I cleaned cookie dough off my floors, walls, windows, furniture…
