Since I’ve posted several times about my Thanksgiving journals today I thought I’d share a list of thanksgiving Bible verses to use in your journals and show you a couple of other creative ways I’ve used them. Also, after the list of Scriptures, I share an OLD poem and another hymn.

One way I use the Thanksgiving Bible verses is to type them on one of my fall photos. You can look back through my 30DoT posts and see several photos I’ve done this way. I used to use PhotoShop but now I just use PicMonkey. It’s a lot easier… and a lot cheaper. You can share these on Facebook or other social media sites. Or send them down to Walgreens (or your local drug store), have them printed, framed, or add them to your journal.
Here’s one I just did when I was first learning. It only took about 5 minutes.
Most often I just copy the verses by hand into my journals. I may write them in my normal handwriting or in different handwritten fonts, with different pens, or different colors. Here’s one from one of my favorite journals. I loved the brown kraft paper pages!
And here’s one that a friend of mine hand lettered. She used these on her Thanksgiving cards last year!

Thanksgiving Hymn
I wish I could tell you who wrote this poem. I found it in a book printed in 1913 back when I was first doing research for my book. Anyway… enjoy it!
O thou, whose eye of love
Looks on us from above
Low at thy throne,
We come to thee and pray
That, gleaning day by day,
Our grateful hearts alway
Thy hand may own.
Thine are the waving fields,
Thy hand the harvest yields;
And unto thee
To whom for rain and dew,
And skies of sunny blue,
Our love and praise are due,
We bend the knee.
And when beneath the trees
In fairer fields than these
Our glad feet roam,
There where the bright harps ring,
May we our gleanings bring,
And in thy presence sing
Our harvest home.
