A couple of weeks ago my daughter and I went to the San Francisco International Gift Fair. I love it for many reasons but one huge reason is to keep up with trends in jewelry.
I’ve done several Google searches for “ spring 2015 jewelry trends ” and my findings didn’t really match up with the things we saw at the show. So I thought I’d write my own article!
Maybe the styles are a little different because we were at a gift show instead of a high fashion show. But this is the show where boutique (and some larger department shows) buyers on the West Coast (and I even met one buyer from Illinois!) are shopping so this is probably what you’ll be seeing when you shop this season.
Here are TEN trends that we saw:
1. Minimalistic AND 2. Gold || The most prevalent theme in the jewelry throughout SFIGF was minimalism and almost all of it was in gold or gold-toned. There was also more rose gold and brass than I’ve seen in a while. Silver was still around but slowly getting inched out.
None of my jewelry is minimalistic and I don’t use gold either so I had to use some photos from ShopSense to illustrate:
3. Geometric || Geometric shapes were popular, especially triangles and hexagons. There were several different molecule necklaces. It’s a good thing my daughter was there to let me know which molecule was which! I preferred the honeycomb necklaces and I do have a plan for adding something similar to the DT&D line.
Here’s the start of a triangle necklace I made for my daughter. She put it on and went home so I still haven’t taken a photo of the finished piece.
4. Geodes and Crystals || Geodes were everywhere at the market this spring! We ordered a few quartz crystal pendants for custom requests but we won’t be carrying any of these in our shop.
5. Feathers and Arrows || Feathers and arrows have been around for a while and they were still prevalent in the Spring 2015 show. I’ve used both feathers and arrows in my designs. Right now my FLY Necklace is the only style still available.
7. Vintage Inspired || There wasn’t as much vintage inspired but since that’s what I’m attracted to I did see it. This is much more my style! If you like these, check out the DT&D Square Marketplace Boutique where I have lots of bling!

Very interesting. I’m still a fan of rhinestones and repurposed jewelry, so hopefully they’ll still be buying this up for a long time. Thanks for sharing at VIParty.
