Back before I did my first flea market by myself, Roadside Relics, I decided I needed a sign. I was at my favorite thrift store one day when I saw this plain, dull twin size bed headboard. It was cheap and I thought that all that flat space would make a great sign.
I had just made a batch of homemade chalk paint from the recipe I posted here.
Now that I have more experience with the homemade chalk paint AND CeCe Caldwell’s natural chalk and clay paint I feel like I can compare them a little better.
I like both because you don’t have to sand or prime the wood. CeCe’s paint is much thicker. I wanted this piece to be completely covered so it took THREE coats.
They also distress differently. They both can be sanded but CeCe’s can also be distressed with just a wet rag. Love that!
In fact, the ONLY thing I don’t like about the CeCe paint is the price. But when you consider how much time you’re saving by not sanding & priming… I’ll let you decide what you’re time’s worth.
