Maxi Skirt Outfit, What to Wear to Fall Flea Markets

But if you follow my Facebook page you might have noticed that I started posting “What to Wear to Flea Markets” every few days. I’ve been sharing some of my favorite outfits and shoes.

I usually go for comfort, which for me means jeans and sneakers. But recently I’ve had several people tell me how comfortable they are in dresses. Hmmmm…. am I too old to learn a new trick?

Then I saw the clothes section of Dollar General. I didn’t even realize that Dollar General had clothes until last week. But I thought this would be a great opportunity to put together a fall outfit for Treasure Island Flea.

Of course my first thought was to buy a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. But remember, I’m trying to break out of my routine on this one. My next idea was to get one of the plaid shirt dresses and a pair of leggings. But they didn’t have a shirtdress in my size and the plaid shirts weren’t quite long enough to completely cover my bum. And I’m not going to wear leggings without my bum being covered up. That should be a fashion law! So here’s what I ended up with:

Fall Maxi Skirt Outfit

Maxi Skirt: Just a few weeks ago I saw someone wearing a maxi skirt and thought I needed to get a new one. This one is extremely soft and comfy. I have to pull it up a little higher than my waistline so I won’t trip on it but that’s not anything new. I’ve had to do that with every maxi skirt I’ve ever worn. The price tag said $10.00 but it rang up as $5.00!!! It was on sale and I didn’t even realize it.

Two-piece Black Top: This would be a great piece for layering at Treasure Island Flea. Mornings always start chilly on the bay and warm up in the afternoon. The two pieces were tacked together on the shoulders but I ended up snipping the threads and wearing these as two separate pieces. The two pieces together were $15.00. I decided to wear the maxi skirt and tank top with my trusty denim jacket for working at the flea market on Saturday. The lacy top shirt will be perfect for when I work at Paris Flea Market. Black is one of our signature colors there. Black is also a great color to highlight jewelry!

My thoughts on the Dollar General apparel line:

It’s a small section of the store.
Great prices.
Cute casual pieces.
Large sizes. It was actually a little difficult to find sizes small enough for me. But if you’re larger, you’ll have an easier time. Sizes went up to 3X.
The ladies working at our local DG are super friendly and very helpful! They spent a few extra minutes admiring my outfit and told me all about how the Bobbie Brooks brand became part of Dollar General!
There was a section of children’s clothes, too, that I didn’t even get to that day.
