This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kohler for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
I recently read an article about kitchen makeovers that stated that kitchen sink faucets should last about 15 years. I’m pretty sure that I’ve lived in houses with faucets that were at least twice that old so I’m not sure how accurate that article really is. We’ve lived in our townhouse 10 years now and our current faucet was here then so I know it’s at least that old. I can probably make it a few more years but the features of these new Kohler faucets at Lowe’s are making me think about an upgrade! (NOTE: The day after I wrote this I turned on the water and my kitchen sink faucet handle came off in my hand! This article is good timing for me!) If you’re planning a kitchen remodel here are some questions to ask when you’re choosing a kitchen sink faucet.
Choosing a Kitchen Sink Faucet
- Do you need extra clearance for washing or filling large pots and pans?
- Do you want temperature controls that will keep the water from getting too hot?
- Do you want a unified look in your kitchen? Choose a finish that matches your cabinet hardware for a more unified look.
- Keep in mind that the same finishes from different companies may not match exactly so get your faucet and soap dispenser from the same manufacturer.
- Does the faucet have a ceramic disc valve to be more durable?
- How many holes are in the sink? If you’re doing a complete kitchen remodel or at least replacing your sink choose your sink BEFORE choosing your faucet so you’ll know how many holes you’ll need. If you’re only replacing the faucet know how many holes you have before choosing a faucet.
- Is the sink inexpensive? Check for plastic parts. It may not be such a good deal.
I’m excited to be able to share with you two new Kohler faucets available at Lowe’s. First the Cardale Kitchen Faucet: I like this finish even better. This is probably my favorite feature in a kitchen sink faucet — the spray head. I love being able to pull it out to wash dishes or water my plants. (I put my houseplants in my sink every few weeks to get them watered well and wash off their leaves.) Here are a few more of the Cardale features from the Lowe’s website:
- A Sweep Spray (TM) that creates a forceful blade of water designed to sweep away stuck-on food from your dishes.
- Temperature memory that allows the faucet to be turned on and off at any temperature setting
- 2-function spray head with touch control, Sweep(TM) spray, and aerated stream settings
- DockNetik(TM) that ensures a secure spray head fit
- Kohler Scratch Shield (TM) finishes that resist corrosion and tarnishing, exceeding industry durability standards over two times.
- Left or right handle installation and 360° spout rotation
- A 10-1/2-in (267 mm) escutcheon plate and soap dispenser
- 1-Piece, self-contained ceramic disc valve that allows both volume and temperature control
Next is the Elliston Kitchen Faucet
:
And a few of the Ellison faucet’s features:
- Kohler Scratch Shield (TM) finishes that resist corrosion and tarnishing, exceeding industry durability standards over two times.
- Sleek, refined design that will complement your modern kitchen decor perfectly
- MasterClean(TM) spray face that resists mineral buildup and is a snap to clean
- High temperature limit stop that allows you to preset a comfortable maximum temperature to eliminate scalding
- Optimal height and reach that provides plenty of clearance beneath the spout
- Kohler ceramic disk valves crush and remove line debris, and exceed industry longevity standards by over two times, ensuring durable performance for life

I have an older Moen faucet (that seriously needs to be repaired or replaced), and my favorite part of it is the finish. Seriously, so easy to keep shiny. In a new faucet — I think I’d love the pullout sprayer.

I’m glad that you suggested replacing your sink before choosing faucets because it will change the number of holes you need. I have been remodeling my kitchen and wasn’t sure which faucets to choose. It would be nice to pick a sink first because then I wouldn’t make mistakes matching the faucet to it.

You made a great point to choose a finish for your kitchen faucet that matches your other hardware. My husband and I need a new kitchen faucet. We’ll be sure to look for one that matches the rest of our kitchen.
