Thanks for visiting my blog! Let me introduce myself…
My name is Ann Tatum. I’m married and have 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and the cutest grandson and granddaughter in the world.
We are a creative family. My husband is a musician and both girls are musical and artistic. And, we come from a long line of ‘pack rats’. I’ve always loved being creative. My mom was an art major, and it seems like we were always creating something out of nothing.
That tradition has continued. I still love to create and use whatever I can find. I like mixing old rust with shiny bling!
I was a stay-at-home mom when my girls were young. We had more time than money so the tradition of making something out of nothing continued. Our girls were homeschooled and we started going to library book sales to supplement our love of reading when they were very young. I found multiples copies of hard-to-find books at our local library sale and I knew there were others looking for these same books. So I started selling books on eBay and did that for over 6 years.
While at book sales, I would often see books that had a wonderful ‘look’ to them but were falling apart. I loved the vintage look of the text and illustrations so I would buy them even in bad condition. I started crafting with them and then put together vintage paper and fabric packs and sold them on Etsy for other crafters.
Meanwhile, when we moved from Texas to California I started blogging. Mainly to keep up with family and show them our new house and what we were doing and making.
From paper crafting, I moved into mixed media and then into jewelry where I seem to have found my niche. I use my pack-rat tendencies to save any little thing that catches my eye and then just wait for inspiration to strike. I use my love of creating to make vintage-inspired jewelry and mixed-media artwork.
In 2019 we moved back to Texas and I now sell on several online venues, Etsy, Shopify, Amazon Handmade, and eBay (again… but now we sell all sorts of vintage finds).
You can sign up for one of my email newsletters. We now have two email lists. One is for our product. You’ll get notified of all our sales, special coupon codes, new products, local shows. And since I can’t contain my creativity to just jewelry you can also sign up for our regular blog email so you’ll receive all our craft and DIY projects (and a few recipes are thrown in here and there, too).
I love to do custom and wholesale orders. Just contact me and leave your email address, and I’ll send you a link to my wholesale page.
I love my family, making jewelry, thrift store/flea market shopping, paper crafts, painting, crochet, cooking, hiking, and a little gardening. You’ll hear all about those on this blog.
I include ads and affiliate links in my sidebar and from time to time in my posts. I may also write blog posts for a paid sponsor. But I’ll always let you know. And I never recommend something that I don’t like.
Please leave me a comment. I love hearing from you — both what you like and what you don’t like. And thanks again for visiting my blog!
‘Til the next project,
Ann @ Duct Tape and Denim
